CLA, Community Service, and So Much More
To begin the month, our Executive Board traveled to Atlanta, Georgia to attend the Carlson Leadership Academy where they learned strategies and tactics to not only improve themselves and their respective positions but improve the chapter as a whole.
In addition to CLA, two of our brothers on the Inter-fraternity Council Executive Board, Carter Spradlin and Brandon Matherne, traveled to Indianapolis, Indiana for the Association of Fraternal Leadership & Values. (AFLV, another leadership continuum focused on the betterment of Greek Life at Old Dominion)
Once getting back to Old Dominion, all of the brothers were back to work on school, sports, community service, the Balanced Man Program, and having fun.
The brothers enjoyed wins against numerous other fraternities during the Spring Intramural Basketball Season before it coming to a close due to an unfortunate result towards the end of the season.
Our brother, Brandon Ramirez was not done though. He participated in the power-lifting competition in February, where he produced a 275 lb bench-press and a 465 lb dead-lift, a new PR for him.
Outside the gym though, brothers have also been giving back to the community. Brothers, Connor Young, Calvin Dugger, and Sean Fijalkowski, have taken initiative and begun a street cleaning routine every weekend focused on keeping our campus and community clean.
We have had some fun though, by doing a couple brother bonding events (for example, we hosted a UFC Fight Night watch party, went to a Norfolk Admirals Game, and even designed a new table together) and even hosted date function on Valentine’s Day.
Now it’s off to Spring Break…
