Old Dominion University
Originally chartered in 1985, the Virginia Xi Chapter has established itself as one of the top fraternities on campus. After semesters of academic turmoil, membership trouble, and struggle associated with growing, the SigEp presence is definitely beginning to be felt at ODU again. In 2019 & 2020 alone, SigEp at ODU was awarded eight of the universities' most prestigious Fraternity & Sorority Life awards: Three Selfless Helper Awards, Two Outstanding New Member Awards, One Outstanding FSL Senior Award, an Outstanding Alumni/ae Award, and Excellence in Scholarship.
VDBL
In SigEp, we strive to build Balanced Men. Our time at Old Dominion University is spent to build men who are equipped with all the skills that will allow them to impact the world around them. With a strong anti-hazing policy and the absence of a pledge process, all brothers are equal to each other from the moment of joining. This policy is rooted in our Cardinal Principles of Virtue, Diligence, and Brotherly Love. We also strive to provide and keep a family atmosphere for our brothers keep that bond, and "additional principle" rooted within our chapter even as we grow.
Campus Presence
Our chapter is also growing in influence on campus. Our brothers have served as Interfraternity Council Members, Honors College Students, and club sports athletes as well as various leadership positions all across the campus . SigEp also excels outside of the general campus setting by leading their communities in volunteer activities and fundraising for philanthropy efforts, like Big Brothers Big Sisters of America.
Even while consistently maintaining the highest GPA among fraternities at ODU, SigEp maintains a very active social calendar. Every year, SigEp hosts exchanges with sororities on campus, educational trips across the state, a formal and semi-formal, as well as tailgates for every home football game and post-game parties. Through this, Virginia Xi has become known as the gentlemen on campus.
